Tourism
Brugge ‘die Schone’:
Bruges, 'that Beauty', a fascinating place! Bruges' range of cultural-historical heritage and museums is nothing short of impressive. The entire historic city center was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2000, after the Beguinage was recognized in 1998 and the Belfry in 1999. Since 2009, the Procession of the Holy Blood has also been included in the list of intangible world heritage. With its 13 museums, Bruges offers a diverse range of collections that reflect the rich past of this ancient trading city. The authentic inner city as it was known in the Middle Ages has been preserved almost completely. That is precisely what gives Bruges its picturesque romantic character, so come and enjoy the historical wealth that our city propagates!
Must do’s:
The Venice of the North, a special place! Just walking along the charming courtyards, over the many bridges, strolling around in the beguinage, ... a boat trip on the canals, or a carriage ride through the city center, ... there is always romance in the air. Drinking a locally brewed beer on a cozy terrace with a lovely view on the many historical buildings and monuments. There are also several themed walks with a guide, private or in group, to discover our historic city in all its facets! You can also shop to your heart's content in one of the many established specialty shops and original Bruges makers.
Resto’s & Bars:
Bruges is a great destination for foodies! From award-winning Michelin-starred restaurants, authentic ‘brown cafés’ and world-renowned ice cream parlours to trendy lunch spots, brunch places and fancy cocktail bars, Bruges is sure to delight your taste buds.
The city puts itself on the map with an impressive list of top restaurants. No fewer than 32 Bruges chefs are recommended by Michelin, GaultMillau and Bibgourmand. The people of Bruges have always liked a glass or two of good beer. Unsurprisingly, the city can boast several typical beers locally brewed: right in the city centre, you can visit the De Halve Maan and Bourgogne des Flandres breweries. And just outside the centre is Fort Lapin, a craft brewery. Convinced? Then you should also visit the Bruges Beer Experience on the Market Square in Bruges to broaden your beer knowledge even more.
